Alpha version of Muta project is ready to go!
This C based program uses a native installation of NCBI’s BLAST to automated and yield results of gene deletion (mutant strains). I used my own mutant sequence data to test, but further and more broad testing is required to cover most cases.
After manually having to check each sequence, at this stage I observed the program correctly indicate the verified mutants as well as give light to other sequences that were over looked and turned out to exclude the gene of interest. So not only did it provide confirmation for those sequences, but as well as provide evidence that this form of analysis might be more efficient and less error prone.
My goals is to have other lab partner’s use it on their data to analysis and provide feedback. Beta here we come!
Automate BLAST execution while checking for deletion of fragment in your candidate mutant (query) sequence.
Looks and reports for gene knockouts on mutant candidate sequence.
Adaptation to work in Max Teplitski's lab at the University of Florida.
